From a chemical point of view, NOMEX insulation paper is an aromatic polyamide, collectively referred to as an aramid. The molecular structure of the material is particularly stable, and the properties of NOMEX paper are thus produced. NOMEX insulation paper is made from a polymer of two forms of polyamide. NOMEX polyamide products are often found wherever electrical insulation is required. It has a unique and appropriate balance of performance and has been used extensively in transformers, motors, generators and other electrical equipment for many years to improve the reliability of electrical insulation. It is used to make the insulation of the paper covered aluminium strips, which has the following advantages:

1.Inherent dielectric strength
The calendered NOMEX insulation layer is resistant to short-term voltage field strengths of 18 to 40 kV/mm without the need for varnish and resin for further processing; Since the NOMEX insulating paper has a low dielectric constant, the electric field distribution between the insulating and cooling medium is more uniform;
2. Mechanical toughness
The calendered NOMEX insulation layer is very strong, and has good elasticity, tear resistance and abrasion resistance, and the thinner product has flexibility;
3. Thermal stability
The NOMEX insulation layer is approved by the UL material temperature class of 220 ° C, and can maintain effective performance at 220 ° C for more than 10 years;
4. Chemical compatibility
The NOMEX insulation layer is largely unaffected by most solvents and is very resistant to acid and alkali corrosion. It is easily compatible with all varnishes, adhesives, transformer fluids, lubricants and cold heading agents. In addition, the NOMEX insulation layer is not damaged by insects, fungi and molds;
5.Not sensitive to moisture
When the relative humidity is 95%, the dielectric strength of NOMEX insulation layer is 90% in the completely dry state. At the same time, many mechanical properties have actually improved;
6.Radiation resistant
